Our Teachers

Each of the four classrooms has a lead teacher working alongside assistant teachers to foster age and developmentally appropriate learning environments and experiences for the children. 


Grasshopper Teaching Team

Ms. Jill Barefoot

Grasshopper Lead Teacher. Jill holds a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology and Sociology from Florida International University and a Child Development Associate Credential with an endorsement in preschool education. Jill's teaching style is greatly influenced by the Reggio Emilia philosophy. She loves integrating elements of nature and real world materials into the classroom! Jill also has a passion for providing young children with opportunities to explore their creativity and has turned one side of the Grasshopper Classroom into an atelier.

Ms. Courtney People

Grasshopper Assistant Teacher. Courtney holds a Child Development Associate Credential with an endorsement in preschool education. Courtney has several years of experience working with preschool age children, and she has served as both a lead and assistant teacher. She loves reading with the children and can often be found sitting on the floor with a book in hand surrounded by a group of attentive young listeners.


Butterfly Teaching Team

Ms. Tasha Brown

Butterfly Lead Teacher. Tasha holds a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Trinity Washington University. Tasha is very passionate about the field and truly enjoys the rewards of teaching young children. She is committed to staying current in the field of ECE in order to create fun, educational, and developmentally appropriate learning environments for her students. She absolutely loves music, dancing, storytelling and bringing stories to life!

Ms. Charlett Hodgson

Butterfly Assistant Teacher. Charlett holds a Child Development Associate Credential with an endorsement in preschool education. She has been with HPS for nearly a decade. As a native of Nicaragua, Charlotte brings her love of her native language and culture to the students of HPS. She is highly energetic and thoroughly enjoys the fast paced environment of the classroom.

Ms. Reeves

Bumblebee Lead Teacher. Ms. Reeves holds an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Over the past 10 years, she has worked as a classroom teacher, age-level coordinator, program coordinator, and in a variety of administrative roles. We are so fortunate to have Ms. Reeves serve a dual role as both Bumblebee Lead Teacher and The Hill Preschool Assistant Director.

Ms. Nicole (Nicky) Boyers

Bumblebee Assistant Teacher. Nicky holds a Child Development Associate Credential with an endorsement in preschool education. She has several years of experience working with children of all ages, and Nicky has served as both a lead and assistant teacher. She loves to engage in sensory explorations with the children and can often be found digging in the dirt alongside our young explorers on the playground and painting with everyday items such as spices and sticks in the classroom.

Ms. Nisha Murphy

Bumblebee Assistant Teacher. Nisha holds a Child Development Associate Credential with an endorsement in preschool education. She has worked with two and three-year-olds for the past five years. Ms. Nisha loves engaging young children in socio-dramatic play and encouraging their creativity and imagination. She is known throughout the school for her quiet and calm demeanor and her endless patience.


Caterpillar Teaching Team

Ms. Diamond Powell

Senior Lead Teacher of the Caterpillar Purple Group. Diamond has significant experience teaching two year-olds, as well as infants and toddlers. She holds a Child Development Associate Credential with an endorsement in infant and toddler education. She is completing her Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education at North Hampton Community College. As an educator, Ms. Diamond describes herself as compassionate, devoted, and knowledgeable. In her role of Senior Lead Teacher, she has brought tremendous strength to our two-year-old program by establishing meaningful home-school partnerships with each family.

Ms. Latasha Johnson
Lead Teacher of the Caterpillar Blue Group. Latasha holds an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Northern Virginia Community College. As an educator, she is patient, energetic, and warm; as a colleague and early childhood professional, she is reflective, thoughtful, and dedicated. Latasha is the newest member of our teaching team, but she has quickly become an integral part of our school. She especially loves reading and storytelling with our youngest children.

Ms. Tatianna Peak

Caterpillar Assistant Teacher. Ms. Tatianna holds a Child Development Associate Credential with an endorsement in preschool education. She has been with HPS for nearly a decade and has worked with a variety of age groups. Tatianna is best known throughout the program for her positive outlook and commitment to supporting her colleagues. Tatianna loves all things art, from facilitating process-oriented experiences for the children to arranging classroom displays.

Ms. Brenda Cowles

Assistant Teacher of the Caterpillar Purple Group. Brenda holds a Child Development Associate Credential with an endorsement in preschool education. Brenda's flexibility and warm energy is greatly appreciated by children, families, and staff alike. She is affectionately known to many of the children as the "friendly playground monster", where she plays games of chase with all of the classes.


Multi-Age Assistant TeacherS

Ms. Keyonta Silas

Multi-age Teacher. Keyonta is working toward her Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education at Central Texas University. She has worked with all of our age groups but has spent most of her career in the early childhood field with the youngest learners, including infants and toddlers. Keyonta has truly enjoyed getting to know our oldest students in the Grasshopper Classroom this school year, and still also loves the time she is able to spend with our two- and three-year-olds each day.



Ms. Pamela Thomas

Multi-age Teacher. Pam is working to complete her Child Development Associate Credential with an endorsement in preschool education. Pam has years of experience in the early childhood field and has worked with a wide-range of age groups from infants to preschoolers. She has taught internationally and numerous places across the U.S. She has enjoyed getting to know all of the children and families across our program this school year.
