Session 3: The Artful Adventure
July 6-10 The Artful Adventure week invites children to explore, create, and wonder through art. Throughout the week, children will work in our in-class studio using a variety of mediums while also visiting local art museums to experience classical, modern, and future-focused works of art. Through observing, discussing, and creating, children will build their own ideas about art as a way to express thoughts, stories, and feelings—discovering that art is an adventure with many paths.
Session 4: STEAM
July 13-17 This week is all about STEAM—science, technology, engineering, art, and math Through fun and hands-on activities our campers will build, create, and experiment with simple tools, colorful art projects, and fun experiments that help them discover how things work. They'll explore how to make things move, grow, and change, all while being creative! The week will include a special trip to the Building Museum, where kids can explore cool structures, and to the Art Museum, where they can see artwork and even create their own masterpieces.
Session 5: All the World's a Stage
July 20-24 This fun summer camp week is all about performance art! Campers will explore the world of theater, music, and dance. Through games, creative play, and hands-on activities, they will get to perform for one another, sing their favorite songs using microphones and have the chance to act out fun stories. We will have the opportunity to visit the recording studio downstairs and check out all the instruments. The week ends with an exciting trip to see a play at Imagination Stage, where campers will experience the thrill of live theater up close and see the magic of performance come to life.
Session 6: Game Week
July 27-31 Ludology is the study of games and gaming. All week long campers will exercise their brains with games and puzzles. We will also discuss what it means to be a good sport. The campers will get a special day at Labyrinth with their game masters who will lead our groups in a Game day! Back at base camp, we will be learning a variety of board games cooperative and competitive both inside and outside.
Session 7 : Community Chefs
Aug 3-7 We will be exploring all things kitchen related from utensils to following a recipe. The children will shop for and prepare a lunch menu and a dessert. Head chef from Colada Shop @ The Wharf welcomes us and will be showing us how things work at the restaurant and doing a demonstration for the kids resulting in a snack. We will be taking a trip to the grocery store to pick up ingredients for our cooking project and stopping by one of our favorite local shops, Hill’s Kitchen. Last but not least, we will visit one of our partner’s Ledo’s Pizza and make our very own pizza and then eat it for lunch!
Session 8: Community Chefs
Aug 10-14 Our young geologists will explore volcanoes and dig for fossils and minerals as they take part in field research and exploration of the earth. Through fun activities like rock hunting, making "mud" prints, and exploring colorful crystals, they’ll discover how the Earth changes over time. The week also includes hands-on experiments and sensory play to help them understand the world beneath their feet. Campers will take home their own crystals and experience the Natural History Museum’s halls of minerals and historical jewels!
